Charlie Schuck

Charlie Schuck is a photographer and director who grew up on an island in the Pacific Northwest and now resides in New York City. His work is greatly guided by the natural world and its various qualities of light. In his formative years Charlie was heavily influenced by a number of industrial designers which helped launch a life long interest in design, objects, and the people who make them. Charlie’s approach to his craft is a combination of design centric thinking mixed with an appreciation for the aspects of natural light. Classically trained in traditional studio lighting, Charlie’s main interest is in creating a more rich and naturalistic approach to lighting both indoors and out. The goal being to make qualities of light that create an elevated experience akin to how people perceive light in everyday situations. Interested in the psychology of perception, he works to emulate the nuances found in natural light and combines this with a heightened sense of designed space. Charlie believes that this approach will trigger a more humanistic connection to the content he produces creating a deeper resonance for the viewer.
